All Things Bright and Beautiful, by James Herriot

This follow-up to Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small is equally as delightful as the first installment. Herriot tells these stories about life in his small town in such a way that the reader is drawn deep into his experiences. He leaves out nary a detail and there is often something profound (and just as often something amusing) to take away from the retelling. Highly recommend, just be prepared for the length.
Enthusiasts are appealing but a fanatic is irresistible.
